The return of the Zeppelins

May 7, 2011

Pioneered by Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin in the early 20th century, these airships have been used from simple transportation services to stealth bombers and surveillance scouts.

Although the production of zeppelins are pretty much nonexistent in the 21st century, new designs and technology may help these massive buoyant ships return in style. Some of these new ideas include creating a hybrid from airships, airplanes, helicopters, and hovercrafts. These miraculous cruisers would be able to float around the Earth for up to three weeks at a time and land virtually anywhere.

Oh hi there. Don’t mind me. I’m just parking my Stratocruiser here for a while.

Do you want a stellar vacation? Are you sick of ocean cruises? No problem.
We will have air cruises in the near future.
Go ahead and relax in the sauna while gaping at mysterious forests and beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy your dinner while drifting by an amazing view of the Himalayas.

Of course, early commercial flights will only be for the rich folks. Don’t worry though, remember when Gameboys were actually expensive? It’s just a matter of time before we will all be flying around on our own personal airships.

Still….I’m waiting on those flying cars.
